MEET DR. AUSTIN FREEMAN
An Industry Recognized Leader
Dr. Freeman is an industry-recognized leader in standards development, management, and application. He has represented both operators and service companies on various task groups developing and maintaining industry standards. He is a well-respected contributor and authority on standards development in API and ISO and has led various efforts at the task group, subcommittee, and committee level. He is past chair of the ISO TC67/SC4 Subcommittee on Drilling Equipment, the API Subcommittee on Completion Equipment (SC19), the API Committee on Oilfield Equipment and Materials (CSOEM), the API Quality Registrar/Monogram Program Board, and most recently, the API Global Industry Services Committee (GISC). His “day job” as an operator was serving as content owner for their internal standards on well equipment and advising others in the company on the effective use of industry standards, and authoring/interpreting other standards and procedures to guide the company on a day-to-day basis. As a former service company employee, Dr. Freeman’s career included technical design work on well equipment, project/program management both in the US and overseas, team and department technology management, and was ultimately responsible for facility licensing to both API and ISO standards. Dr. Freeman is well known for his ready smile, his sense of humor, and his ability to achieve consensus from a diverse group.
